What do I need to know?

The Bingham Cup Tour

The tournament will be held from Friday 1 June until Sunday 3 June, 2012.? The Chargers will be planning to arrive in Manchester no later than Tuesday 29 May in order to acclimatise, brush off the cobwebs (and jetlag) and get focused on the Rugby.

There’ll be an opening party on the Thursday; then three days of the most enjoyable Rugby you’re ever likely to experience; hopefully a trophy and capped off by a closing party on the Sunday night and the Chargers Kangaroo Court on the Monday.

Most people will be leaving Manchester on the Tuesday after the tournament to either come home or do some travelling in Europe or elsewhere.

Touring costs

Historically, the costs involved in Bingham Cup week that will be borne by the players include:

  • Airfares – between $2,000 and $2,500
  • Accommodation – around $1,000 per room
  • Registration – around AUD150
  • Living expenses – at least $100 per day

Costs that the club is aiming to cover include:

  • Team registration
  • Jerseys and teamwear (polos, hoodies etc)
  • Team dinners during the tournament
  • Physio-related expenses including strapping, ice baths etc.

The intention is for the club to offset some player costs as far as the budget will allow – it depends entirely on the success of our fundraising as to what extent this is possible.
